On 2 April, the South India Film Artistes Association will hold a one-day token fast to express their support for Lankan Tamil refugees.

The members of the association will gather at the Nadigar Sangam premises at T Nagar on the day and would sit for fast.

Almost all artistes including Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan are expected to attend the fast. It may be recalled that Tamil Film Directors Association and FEFSI besides Small Screen Artistes Union recently organised a similar protest.

The one day fast would be held between 9 am and 5 pm.

Ezhil Iniyan will double up as producer and co-director for a movie titled Mugam Nee Agam Naan. The film that harps on friendship features Shankar Sreenivasan and Sharika in the lead roles. The movie also stars Ganja Karuppu, Bayilvan Ranganathan, Mohanapriya, Alwah Vasu and Thenimurugan.

The movie has lyrics by Viveka and Mohanji, art by Vinoth, stunt by Fire Karthik and cinematography by J Magendran. The movie has music by Mohanji. Mugam Nee Agam Naah has story, screenplay, dialogue and direction by Rana Saravanan.

The story revolves arround two close friends who froom their young days are close to other. How situation make them to show their friendship during hard times forms the crux.

The climax is un expected andit has four beautiful melodies and a qawwali type message song about mosquitoes will be the highlight, says the director.

After Neerparavai, director Seenu Ramasamy has kickstarted his next venture which is yet to be titled. Buzz is that Sunaina will be part of the project. Remember she starred in Seenu Ramasamy’s Neer Paravai before.

Also the director has roped in Vimal and Vijay Sethupathy for pivotal roles in the film. The movie is set in a village in a hill.

Rahunanthan will score music while Vairamuthu will pen lyrics.

Soodhu Kavvum starring Vijay Sethupathy and Sanchitha Shetty is almost completed. The movie is produced by Thirukumaran Entertainment C V Kumar and is being released across the world by Studio Green K E Gnanavelraja.

The movie directed by Nalan Kumarasamy features Vijay Sethupathy in the role of a middle-aged man. A major portion of the movie is already completed. Thirukumaran Entertainment is also proucing a sequel to Pizza titled Villa. It is directed by Deepan Chakravarthy.

The audio release of the movie will take place on 27 March.

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, the daughter of Sarath Kumar, is all set to make her debut in Telugu. She has been reportedly signed up to play a lead role opposite Allari Naresh.

This untitled film is going to be directed by Sai, a former associate of Srinu Vaitla. Anil Sunkara is going to produce the film and it’s expected to go on floors in May this year.

Last year, Varalaxmi was approached for another Telugu film and she even did a photoshoot with a young hero; however, the project was shelved. After making her debut in Tamil opposite Simbu in Poda Podi, she’ll soon be seen opposite Vishal in Sundar C’s Mada Gaja Raja this summer.

Actor Sarath Kumar chose to celebrate the success of Malayalam movie Usthad Hotel that won three awards by cutting a cake with the movie’s producer Listin Stephen.

Sarath Kumar congratulated Listin Stephen for producing such a film and said their next co-production Chennaiyil oru Naal will hit the screens on 29 March.

He said plans are on to co-produce more movies including Puli Vaal and a couple of movies more. Listin on his part congratulated Sarath Kumar for his kind gesture.

Chennaiyil Oru Naal is a remake of Malayalam hit Traffic produced by Listin. Both Sarath Kumar and Listin expressed confidence that the movie has shaped up well and would certainly make it big among the masses here.

The movie will release in maximum screens in Tamil.

Rajnikanth has expressed his shock and disappointment on hearing the verdit that he was granted five years of imprisonment for his aleged involvement in Mumbai Blast case.

Rajnikanth and Sanjay Dutt share a good rapport and acted together in a couple of films.

Meanwhile said on Thursday Sanjay Dutt said that he is ‘shattered’ by the Supreme Court verdict sentencing him to five years in prison in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. He said he will complete all his pending films, and that he ought to be strong in these trying times for his family and children.

Arun Vaidhyanathan after his directorial debut with Achamundu Achamundu, a film which had Prasanna and Sneha in lead roles is busy producing Kalyana Samayal Saadham with Prasanna in the lead. Lekha Washington plays the female lead.
